Paris Man Sought In Weakley Co. Pursuit, Car Theft

Dresden, Tenn.–Dresden Police have identified a Paris man as the suspect who led officers on a pursuit in a stolen car after they witnessed he and another person conducting a drug deal in a local business’ parking lot.

Dresden Police have identified Joseph B. Coleman, age 44, of Paris, as the suspect they are seeking. Officers said Coleman also has felony warrants out of Kentucky.

Dresden Police are asking anyone who knows of his whereabouts to contact their local law enforcement agency. He is facing charges of evading arrest, reckless endangerment, driving on a suspended license and use of stolen plates.

According to information released by the Dresden Police Department, two officers observed a drug transaction in progress in front of Casey’s convenience store at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

When officers ran the tags on the two vehicles, one came back as stolen and when officers approached, the driver of the stolen vehicle took off.

The pursuit was called off for public safety reasons and the vehicle was found abandoned in the East Highland area of Martin.

Assisting with the pursuit was the THP, Weakley Co. Sheriff’s Office and Martin Police.

Dresden Police are not identifying the other subject’s name at this time.
