Trezevant Man Airlifted After Henry Co. Motorcycle Accident

Henry, Tenn.–A motorcyclist was airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville after a one-vehicle accident Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Hwy. 79S and Van Dyke Rd.

Driver Roy Wayne Nelson, age 41, of Trezevant, suffered serious injuries in the crash, which occurred around 5:15 p.m.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report, Nelson was northbound on Hwy. 79 and while negotiating a left curve, his 2008 Harley traveled off the right side of the roadway. After driving off the road, the motorcycle was sent into a side over side roll and came to an uncontrolled final rest on its left side.

The Henry Volunteer Fire Department and Sheriff’s deputies also were dispatched to the scene. Traffic was temporarily re-routed while crews assisted at the scene.

According to the THP, Nelson was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the accident.
