Paris, TN – As the Paris Board of Public Utilities continues to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact to the residents of Paris and Henry County, BPU is proactively taking measures to better serve our customers in this time of crisis.

General Manager Terry Wimberley said, “We understand the financial uncertainty many in our community are facing due to COVID-19. BPU has made the following changes to our policies to help ensure the continuation of the vital services we provide this community.”

BPU has suspended our disconnect for non-payment policy. No pre-pay customers or monthly bill customers will have services disconnected for non-payment through April 15, 2020.

Monthly bills will continue to be generated during this time.

Daily bill calculations for pre-pay will continue to generate during this time.

While payment is not required at this time, customers will continue to be responsible for paying for the services we provide during the suspension of our disconnect policy. Customers are encouraged to make payments along the way. Doing so will help customers prepare for when we reinstate normal disconnect policies.

Late fees will continue to accrue during this time, but we will provide late fee waivers for those customers who have been financially impacted by this crisis.

These policies will apply to all customers, residential and commercial.

If you have been disconnected in the past 6 days, please contact our office for options to get reconnected.

Effective tomorrow, Friday, March 20, the BPU Main Lobby will be closed and remain closed until further notice. Appointments for new services can be made by calling 731-642-1322. Customers wanting to make a payment during this time are encouraged to use one of our drop-box locations, our outdoor kiosk, the MyBPU App or pay by mail. We will continue to answer the phone and conduct as much business as possible over the phone. If you need information in order to utilize one of these alternative payment methods please contact us at 731-642-1322.

If you need to drop off a water test during this time, please call 731-642-1322 ahead of time so we can accommodate your request.

During these unprecedented times, we remain committed to providing essential services to our customers and will have electric, water and wastewater crews ready to serve Paris and Henry County at all times during this pandemic event.
