Union City, Tenn.–The first-ever Obion County Citizens Sheriff’s Academy is off to a great start, with a large number of citizens participating in the eight-week session. Thursday night, the class heard from the county schools’ School Resource Officers and some of the daily activities they experience. The class also toured the Obion County Courthouse including the ‘haunted’ jail upstairs. In an earlier class, they learned about the effects drugs and alcohol have on the human body; that session was held at the National Guard Armory and the Tennessee Highway Patrol provided assistance.
