Paris, Tennessee – Together with other leading technical schools from around the nation, the Tennessee College of Applied Technology-Paris held National Technical Letter of Intent Signing Day Thursday. Students from Paris, McKenzie, Big Sandy, Camden, Gleason, Huntingdon and Dresden were involved.
New students for the 2020-21 school year participated in the signing ceremony, similar to an athletic signing, on the Paris campus at 312 S. Wilson Street. The event was emceed by Gina Matlock, former TCAT instructor and Henry County Medical Center’s Community Champion.
This national event sponsored by the National Coalition of Certification Centers (NC3) mirrors the NCAA’s National Signing Day for athletes who commit to play sports in college. It is designed to honor students who are entering a technical field and to celebrate the dignity of work.

“By signing our incoming students to Letters of Intent, we’re telling them that we’ve reserved a place for them and we want them. Technical education will prepare them for a strong career,” said College President Brad White. “Industry leaders are excited about this opportunity because it validates the student and provides an opportunity for industry representatives to meet these future workers.”
Sixty-five current high school seniors, along with officials from seven area high schools, TCAT instructors, as well as family members participated in the event.
Students from Henry County High School are Hannah Presson, Alexis Shafer, Seth Hall, Jacelyn Story, Lily Mallard, Isha Hayes, Jasmine Berry, Natalie Hatter, Paige King, Alexandria Millraney, Anna Livingston, Hunter Nergard, Frank Spicer, Colton Wiser, Haylee Papaleo, Daisheyona Cowan, Jayce Reddick, Terry Pace, Aaron McNutt, Jaden Crouch, Dalton Mast, Thomas Bennett, Amillio Cervantes, Blare Houston, Andrew Thompson, Chance Johnson, Hunter French, Hunter Rowlett, Jacobi Ballard, Ethan Anderson, Ezekiel Thompson, Alec Sowell, Dillion Davis, and Tristan Alley.
Students from McKenzie High School are Andrew Van Dyke, Giselle Garza, Shelby Singleton, and Deyonna Teague.
Student from Gleason School is Olivia Walker.
Students from Big Sandy are Brookelin Sims, Danny Hargrove, Garrett Hicks and Donald Riley.
Students from Camden Central High School are Ashley Hayes, Benjamin Borders, Brandon Hooten, and Darian Leonard.
Students from Huntingdon High School are Cole Edwards, Kylin Finch, Devon McClerkin, Alex Scott and Jasmine Hilliard.
