At Thursday’s special 77th District General Election, Dyer County Republican Rusty Grills easily beat four opponents to win the State Representative seat, replacing Rep. Bill Sanderson of Kenton who resigned in September.
Unofficial results from Lake, Dyer and a portion of Obion County show Grills receiving 85.2 percent of the vote, for 3,344 votes.
Democrat Michael Smith of Dyer County received 504 votes, with Independents Max Smith receiving 59, Ronnie Henley 21 and Billy M. Jones 15.
