Gibson County, Tenn.–Multiple agencies are investigating the discovery Saturday of a human skull in a wooded area in Gibson County.
The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that a dog brought what appeared to be a human skull to its owner. The sheriff’s office is not revealing the location to keep unauthorized people out of the area.
Deputies sent the skull to a medical examiner’s office to pinpoint the person’s age, gender, race as well as the amount of time the skull might have been in the woods before it was found.
Cadaver dogs were used to search the area but no additional items or remains were found.
The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office also has contacted the FBI, TBI, Milan Police Department and Carroll County Sheriff’s Office for assistance.
