Big Sandy, Tenn.–A 29-year-old horse named Starlight was rescued from a deep hole Sunday night thanks to the Benton County Rescue Squad, sheriff’s deputies and a wrecker crew.
David Tuck of the Rescue Squad said it appeared the horse got out of its pasture, stepped off into a hole and was unable to get out. The accident happened on Cedarwood Drive in Big Sandy.
The rescue squad was called to the scene around 5 p.m. and worked steadily until leaving the scene around 8 p.m.
Tuck said, “The horse was exhausted due to trying to free herself. We used straps and a tractor with a front end loader to raise the horse out.”
Rescue squad officials commended the job everyone did on rescuing the horse. “Great job everyone. Praying Starlight recovers soon.”
