Martin City Board Approves Bid For New Library

Martin, Tenn.–Despite higher bids than expected, the Martin City Board unanimously approved the low bid of $14.3M for construction of the new Martin Public Library.
The low bid was submitted by Barger Construction of Parkers Crossroads and construction is expected to begin in December or January. The project is expected to be complete by mid-2021.
The Martin Library Foundation has a goal of raising $1.5 million dollars toward the project, which would lower the city’s cost.
According to the Martin Library Foundation, the physical presence of the new 34,000 square feet building will show the world that Martin, Tennessee is serious about providing its citizens with perhaps the best rural community library in the Mid-South region. “This beautiful facility will anchor a growing and dynamic downtown Martin. It will serve as a stimulus to business and economic development and a general enhancement to the quality of life of Martin area citizens,” they said.
