Union City, Tenn.—Union City Police have issued warrants for two men involving two separate incidents of evading arrest.
Warrants have been issued for Chris Wallsmith, age 28, of 2112 Nailing Dr., Union City; and Hunter Choate, age 24, of 214 Cooper St., Martin.
In the Wallsmith incident, at 12:30 a.m. this morning (July 29), officers observed him driving on South Taylor and East Church Streets. Police followed behind and requested his driver’s license status. Dispatch advised that the driver’s license was suspended and police initiated a traffic stop at Russell and Oak Streets and Wallsmith took off at a high rate of speed, running a stop sign at three intersections and then ran a red light at Home and E. Reelfoot Streets
According to the report, Wallsmith continued west on Reelfoot Ave. and made a right turn onto Old Troy Rd. At this point, police discontinued the pursuit.
In the Choate incident, police spoke to Choate as he walked into Casey’s General Store Saturday night and told Choate there was a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear. Police were walking Choate to the car to take him to jail when he took off running.
