Empty Paris Residential Structure Destroyed By Fire

By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director
Paris, Tenn.–A residential structure at 527 E. Washington St. was destroyed by fire Sunday night.
The two-story wood house has been empty for years and Paris Police Lt. Josh Frey said at the scene that there were no utilities on at the house when the fire started.
Paris Firefighters were called to the scene and found the structure ablaze. Black smoke from the fire could be seen all the way to Park Street.
As of 8:40 p.m., Paris Police were diverting traffic from the area and a large crowd of people from the neighborhood had gathered to watch the fire.
The fire kept popping up in different sections of the house and firefighters were working hard to keep it from spreading to the house next door.
