HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER
South Side 5, UC 0
A strong Jackson bunch blanked the Tornadoes, dropping them to 5-4 on the season.
UC managed but three shots – just one on goal. Brady Coleman, Jose Godinez and Marvin Regalado got off attempts against the Hawks on the offensive end.
Preston Simpson and Brian Arellano combined for eight saves in goal for the Twisters.
Union City head coach John Graham was not discouraged by the defeat.
“We had some young guys step up and play well on defense,” Graham insisted. “South Side easily had the best defending team we’ve faced this year and also a solid midfield. I was super proud of our guys for competing and not quitting.
“This will help us prepare for the district games to finish the regular season.”
UC’s next match is April 25th at Westview.
The Tornadoes will gain a forfeit win over South Fulton, which disbanned its program earlier in the year due to the lack of players.
