Paris Woman Charged With Negligent Homicide

Paris, Tenn.—A woman who was involved in a fatality on Memorial Day has been arrested by the Henry County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of criminally negligent homicide.

Amy Floyd, age 49, of Birds Creek Rd., Paris, was charged with criminally negligent homicide and reckless endangerment. Bond was set at $10,000.

Floyd was involved in the fatal accident which occurred Memorial Day on Hwy. 69 and Stewart Rd. in which Benjamin Newton, age 35, of Kirksey, Ky., was killed, and his passenger Brittany Jackson, age 32, of Benton, Ky., was critically injured. The accident occurred near the Henry County Airport.

Newton and Jackson were on a motorcycle driven by Newton when an SUV driven by Floyd drove into their path, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report that was released at the time of the crash.
