Study Of Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds

Springville, Tenn.–The Friends of Tennessee National Wildlife Refuge are pleased to announce an exciting new program that will serve as one of our membership drives. On Saturday, June 29th at 10:30 am Dr. David Pitts, a renowned, but retired Ornithologist from UT Martin will be presenting a program on “A Study of Ruby-throated Hummingbirds During Nesting Season”. This program is free, but you must be a current Friends of Tennessee NWR member to attend. Also, we will be limiting attendance for this program, so you must register online to reserve your spot! Not a member?? No problem, it is fairly cheap and easy to become one….just follow this link:

A second opportunity exists for the public at 2:00 pm. We are calling it a “Workshop”, but it will be more practice than another program. It is fully open to the public and has no cap on attendance. However, you need to bring your own chair and be willing to sit quietly and watch on our trail for 30 minutes or more. No need to RSVP for the afternoon one, simply come willing to learn. Dr. Pitts has found hundreds of hummingbird nests and is the best expert at it we know. This one is probably more suited for adults than children.
