Steve McCadams: I hope you'll come join me. Steve McCadams: The fish is great, I can attest to that. Steve McCadams: A good time is had by all. Steve McCadams: It's a good event and especially coming up on Saturday as part of the festivities, the World's Biggest Fish Junior Fishing Rodeo. Steve McCadams: It's Saturday from 11am to 1pm at Williams Lake. Steve McCadams: It's free, open to kids 12 and under. Steve McCadams: Go buy your favorite bait shop, pick up some worms, crickets and your favorite fishing pole and bobbers and a few extra hooks and take those kids out to Williams Lake. Steve McCadams: It is always a fun time. Steve McCadams: Age brackets are 4 and under, 5 to 8 years old and 9 to 12. Steve McCadams: It's a great time to spend some time with friends and family and introduce somebody to the greats sport of fishing. Steve McCadams: Always a great event. Steve McCadams: Now turning to the local fishing scene. Steve McCadams: Bluegill are going good. Steve McCadams: May 1st is the first full moon coming up in May. Steve McCadams: To old bluegill fishermen that means it's a peak spawning time. Steve McCadams: So get out there next week. Steve McCadams: It's right here on our doorstep. Steve McCadams: Bluegill have already been biting pretty good. Steve McCadams: They will get better when they start spawning. Steve McCadams: All the males get around those shallow areas and it is a fisherman's delight. Steve McCadams: Crickets, red worms, wax worms, whatever you'd like to use. Steve McCadams: Just get out there and go fishing. Steve McCadams: Shell cracker have been hitting good too. Steve McCadams: They've been biting actually two to three weeks. Steve McCadams: A little bit ahead of the bluegill and some dandies have been taken around the Kentucky lake area. Steve McCadams: Crappie have been pretty good. Steve McCadams: Some fish soon to enter post spawn phase. Steve McCadams: It won't be long depths of 4 to 8ft of producing a few fish but most of the good stringers have been around 8 to 12 foot deep. Steve McCadams: Catfish are heading to those rocks. Steve McCadams: They're getting ready to spawn too. Steve McCadams: These rocky banks will be home to them very soon. Steve McCadams: Bass fishing has been fair some around shallow weeds and shorelines and we need a little more water. Steve McCadams: Kentucky Lucky is only at 358, not quite summer pool yet and surface temperature here is any 69 to 71 but it's getting there quite fast. Steve McCadams: This is Steve McCadams.
