Camden, Tenn.–Despite the heat, a unique 4th of July program in Benton County drew a crowd for a public reading of the Declaration of Independence. Presenters were dressed in period costume and the event was sponsored by the Tennessee Society of the Sons of The American Revolution, Descendants of the American Revolution Patriots, American Legion Post 102, VFW Post 2109, and Disabled American Veterans. The Camden Central High School band played patriotic tunes and the Band Boosters sold concessions. County Mayor Brett Lashlee said, “What a great day of celebration and a great day for our county and communities. We had a fantastic showing and crowd at our ‘Celebration of The Declaration’ event at the Benton County Courthouse.”
