
Paris, Tenn.–The first annual Juneteenth Festival this Saturday in Paris will offer speakers, food, vendors –and kickball for the youth. The event will be held from noon to 5 p.m. in Ogburn Park.
Organizer James Benau said the event is to celebrate Juneteenth, also known as “Freedom Day”, and is a day to commemorate African-American freedom, education and achievements.
Speakers will include Erika Scott Pearson, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives District 8; Marquita Bradshaw, an environmentalist and candidate for the U.S. Senate; and Henry Co. Director of Schools Dr. Leah Watkins.
A kickball game also will be held for the youth.
