
Paris, Tenn.–Henry County Health Care has been notified by the health department that one resident and two staff members had tested positive for COVID-19; however, the resident has been retested and results were negative.
According to a press release issued by Henry County Medical Center, the Health Care center tested 179 residents and staff for COVID-19 as required by Governor Bill Lee and the State of Tennessee in late May.
After testing, Henry County Health Care received notification that one resident and two staff members have tested positive for COVID-19, but all three cases are asymptomatic. The one resident has been retested and results are negative for COVID-19.
According to the press release, since the first guidance from CMS and the CDC, which came out in March, HCHC has taken all the appropriate actions to ensure the safety and well being of itsresidents and staff to prevent or reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. This included altering the normal operations of the facility and creating a separate wing with separate staff.
HCHC continues to provide face masks for residents and social distancing is enforced. In addition, all staff is using personal protective equipment as recommended by the CDC.
“We have notified our local and state public health officials. We continue daily monitoring and education regarding hand hygiene, cleaning of equipment used for patient care, and continued restrictions on visitations, dining, and group activities,” the press release states.
“We are doing everything we can to help prevent COVID-19 among our residents and partners,” said Sandra Ray, Administrator at Henry County Healthcare Center. “We are in contact with our residents’ families and we have recently updated our website to provide information dedicated specifically to HCHC COVID-19 information and updates. We want to assure everyone we have our residents’ safety on the forefront of all we are doing.”
Due to government privacy requirements, HCHC cannot divulge specific information about any individual who has confirmed or suspected COVID-19, except to the specific family members who have permissions to receive such information.
