Paris, Tenn.–The city of Paris has reopened several park areas and announced the municipal pool at Eiffel Tower Park will open June 1.

City officials stress that even though the public will once again be enjoying some of the activities everyone took for granted,  “We must still practice social distancing as much as we possibly can to contain the spread.”

Following are scheduled re-openings with some guidelines and limitations:

• Today the caution tape will be removed in the park picnic areas. Tables will be spaced appropriately and we ask that you leave them in place.

• Tape around the playground equipment will be removed today in all parks.

• Other facilities now open include the Tennis Courts, Skate Park, Trout Pond, Disc Golf, Walking Trails, Pickle Ball Court and Gaga Pit.

• At the Civic Center the weight room, fitness center, indoor walking track and indoor pool will now be open. However, the locker room, showers and water fountains will remain closed.

Restrooms in the parks will reopen. Sanitizing the restrooms will occur twice per day due to the number of parks and facilities that require attention. If you will be spending time in the park and could possibly be using the restrooms you may wish to bring sanitizing products on your own.

Prior to the lock down of restrooms the city experienced a problem with toilet paper disappearing from public restroom facilities. “We will again be stocking the restrooms with toilet paper, however, if it continues to disappear at the rate we experienced prior to lock down we will be unable to keep it stocked,” they said.

City basketball courts must remain closed at this time since this is a close contact activity.

McNeill Park will reopen to the public May 30.

The outdoor municipal pool at Eiffel Tower Park will open June 1 with a limit of 100 visitors at a time. We will provide more information on the pool operations in a separate post.

“We will continue to monitor the COVID 19 cases in Henry County as well as the State guidelines to determine the status of continuing operations and the reopening of additional facilities,” city officials said. “Again, this will determine how diligent we are to continue social distancing and still returning to some sort of normal.

“We must say a big thanks to Parks Director Tony Lawrence and the Parks Department Staff for working very hard today to get everything back in place.”
