
On May 4 and 5th, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is asking the community to celebrate firefighters using red porch lights to light your homes.
Paris Landing Volunteer Fire Department Chief Reggie Coles said he receives information from the National Foundation due to retired Assistant Chief Tammy Hinson’s husband Mark who died of a massive heart attack at a fire scene December 15, 1993.
The Foundation is asking communities to thank firefighters for their service on May 4 and to remember them on May 5 on the global day of giving.
In the United States and Canada, over 18,000 firefighters have been exposed to COVID-19, according to voluntary surveys taken by the International Association of Fire Fighters.
Nearly everyone knows a firefighter. They’re our family, friends, and co-workers. They respond to a stranger’s call for help without hesitation and serve with pride and compassion. This is a way to say thank you to our firefighters for all that they do to keep our communities safe.
