Union City, Tenn.–Union City Energy Authority reported numerous outages from the widespread damage caused by the severe storm Sunday afternoon.

Authority CEO Jerry Bailey said after the storm about five circuits were out of power.  “This amounts to about 1,950 customers out right after the storm hit,” Bailey said.  “We were able to restore power to everyone except for a few isolated cases in about three hours.  We had all our outside employees working to get everyone back on as soon as possible.”

Bailey said the outages would have been much longer if tree trimming had not been done properly.  “This type of storm would have been even more devastating to our system and our customers if trees had not been trimmed in a timely manner.  Tree trimming pays in the long run,” he said.

If any customers are having trouble with their electric service due to the storm Bailey suggested calling UCEA at 731-885-9212 for assistance.
