Spring Hill, Tenn.–A Spring Hill Firefighter lost his life during Sunday evening’s severe storms when a tree limb fell on him while he was playing with his daughter near his home.

Mitchell Earwood had been a firefighter for 10 years and his death was mourned by surrounding fire departments in the hours after the accident was announced. Spring Hill city officials said Earwood was 34 and was killed near his home. Chief Terry Hood said Earwood was playing in a creek with his daughter when the storm came up suddenly and the limb fell on him.

Family and friends gathered as a long line of area firefighters escorted his body to the Davidson County Medical Examiner’s Office last night.
