Murray, Ky.—An author with deep roots in west Kentucky will be presenting the inaugural Easley Lecture at Murray State University at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 19.
Dr. Bobbie Ann Mason, originally of rural Mayfield, will be the speaker at the lecture, which is sponsored by the Department of History. The event will be held in the Curris Center.
Mason is an award-winning and renowned author who is a recipient of the PENHemingway Award. Mason has written for The New Yorker and the author of In Country, Shiloh and Other stories and Clear Springs, a memoir of growing up in Mayfield. In Country was made into a movie starring Bruce Willis.
Dr. Mason is going to speak on how history is used in fiction writing. The lecture is free and open to the public.
