Some Paris City Facilities Close, City Government Continues To Operate

city-hall-4

Paris, Tenn.–During this difficult and unprecedented time Paris City Officials have issued a public announcement about city services and reassure everyone that City government continues to operate as efficiently as possible at this time.

In accordance with CDC recommendations the decision was made to close some of the city’s facilities, including the Paris Civic Center, Krider Performing Arts Center, Atkins Porter Recreation Center and the City Hall meeting room.

City Manager Kim Foster said, “We have also limited access to City Hall Business Offices where customers will only have access to the lobby areas in the business office and the Police Department Records Office and Dispatch Center.  We are operating on normal business hours and can assist you over the phone when possible.  For your convenience, we have also started taking credit card payments over the phone.   Our parks remain open but we highly encourage everyone to practice the CDC recommendation of social distancing by staying at least 6 ft. away from other visitors.”

The city is fortunate that most of its employees work outside and not in large groups, “so we haven’t had to make many adjustments to our schedules or the services we provide,” Foster said. “Sanitation will remain on schedule, if you need your brush or leaves picked up, or you have a bulk item or cardboard pickup request, please go ahead and call our public works department.  All emergency services are running as normal.”
