Paris, Tenn.–A Paris man was tracked by Henry County Sheriff Sgt. Wayne Fuqua’s K9 Adora after he hid in a garage after fleeing from officers and crashing his car.

Benjamin Fields, age 23, of 210 Bass Dr., Buchanan, is being held on $175,000 on new charges and being held without bond on a Circuit Court violation. He is charged with violation of probation, evading arrest, driving without a license, criminal simulation and tampering with evidence.

According to the press release issued by the sheriff’s office, Sgt. Fuqua observed a suspicious vehicle while investigating another incident Saturday, March 14.

Knowing that Fields had outstanding warrants Fuqua attempted to stop the vehicle, at which point Fields sped up and attempted to flee. The suspect vehicle eventually crashed at Hwy 79N and Bull Durham road.

According to the press release, Fields fled the vehicle on foot and temporarily evaded the officers giving chase. At this time Sgt. Fuqua along with Sheriff Monte Belew deployed K-9 Adora in an attempt to track Fields.

Adora immediately tracked the scent and followed it approximately one mile until Sgt. Fuqua and Sheriff Belew found Fields hiding in a citizen’s garage. Fields was then taken into custody without further incident.

Sheriff Belew said, “Hats off to Adora on another great track and find!”
