Martin, Tenn.–Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett presented a $100,000 check toward construction of the new Martin Public Library at Friday’s Northwest Tennessee Legislative and Mayoral Breakfast.
Those in attendance included board members, new Director of Regional Libraries in Tennessee Bessie Williams and State Legislator Andy Holt. The library was represented by Library Board Trustees Bettye Legons, Joyce Haworth, Anna Clark, David McAlpin, Candy McAdams, Library Director and Regional Library Board trustee Tommy Moore.
The $100,000 Library Construction Grant, distributed through the Tennessee State Library and Archives, will help fund the 35,000-square-foot, two-story new Martin Public Library. The facility is expected to be completed by mid-2021. It will house meeting rooms, a demonstration kitchen, multimedia studio, children’s library, youth area, computer lab and more.
