Henry, Tenn.–Henry Fire units were dispatched out at 1:12 a.m. this morning to 4540 Hwy 79 South on a report of a chimney fire.
Engines 2 & Tanker 1 responded to the scene with eight firefighters to heavy smoke coming from the chimney. The home owner had just sprayed water down the chimney before fire units arrived which knocked the fire down to smoke.
Firefighters then used an extinguisher down the top of the chimney to finish extinguishing the fire. The fire was contained to the fire place with only minor damage to the fireplace insert.
The Henry Fire Department is reminding everyone with fireplaces that it’s important to have your fire place professionally cleaned and inspected every year before use to avoid fires such as this one.
