NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe welcomed the announcement that the new Cadillac XT6 crossover will be produced at General Motors’ Spring Hill, Tennessee, facility.
“GM is one of Tennessee’s leading employers, and the Spring Hill plant has benefitted Middle Tennessee’s economy enormously over the years, providing quality wages for thousands of our residents,” Haslam said. “We’re pleased Spring Hill continues to play such an important role in GM’s operations and welcome production of the all-new Cadillac XT6 to Tennessee.”
“I’d like to thank GM for its continued commitment to Tennessee,” Rolfe said. “GM’s decision to add yet another vehicle, the all-new Cadillac XT6, to its product line in Spring Hill speaks volumes about the high-quality workforce and business climate that global businesses can find in Tennessee.”
The Cadillac XT6 will debut today in Detroit ahead of the 2019 North American International Auto Show.
The automaker previously announced a $300 million investment to produce the new three-row crossover in Spring Hill. With the launch of the Cadillac XT6, GM is in the process of increasing production and adding hundreds of jobs to the plant. The first-ever Cadillac XT6 will be available for ordering this spring.
The Spring Hill site is the largest GM facility in North America, spanning 7.1 million square feet on 2,000 acres. GM has invested more than $2 billion in the facility since 2010. In addition to the new Cadillac XT6, GM produces the Cadillac XT5, GMC Acadia and Holden Acadia models in Spring Hill, as well as engines used in several GM vehicles. The plant employs approximately 3,400 employees.
Spring Hill and Maury County are represented by Sen. Joey Hensley (R –Hohenwald), Rep. Scott Cepicky (R – Culleoka) and Rep. Michael Curcio (R – Dickson) in the Tennessee General Assembly.
