Large Turnout For Chimes For Charity Sorting Day; More Volunteers Needed Sunday

Union City, Tenn.—A large group of volunteers of all ages showed up to help sort items that will be placed in the Christmas baskets handed out by the Chimes for Charity program Christmas Eve morning. Today was sorting day and Sunday, Dec. 22 will be basket-packing day. Jaycettes Chimes Chairperson Emily Gallimore said, “We had a great turnout. The most volunteers I have seen in 10 years.” Volunteers are sought for Sunday’s basket-packing day, too. It begins at 1 p.m. at the Troy bus garage. Gallimore said 250 Christmas baskets are given out to needy families in Obion County. The baskets contain canned goods, flour, coffee, milk, chicken, sausage, toothpaste, detergent, blankets and more. Toys are also included for families with children. (Emily Gallimore photo).
