Two Men Killed In Paris New Year's Day Fire

Paris, Tenn.–The new year began on a tragic note in Henry County, with two men killed in an early morning fire New Year’s Day in Paris.
The men’s bodies were found by Paris firefighters in the home at 707 Hardy St., which was a total loss in the fire. Two dogs also were killed in the fire.
County Medical Examiner Danny Tucker told WENK/WTPR positive identification of the two men has not yet been made. He said the bodies of the two men have been sent for autopsy and further forensic evaluation to determine identification. From preliminary investigation, it is presumed one man was age 43 and the other age 23.
Firefighters were called to the house at 3:10 a.m. and found the house already engulfed in flames and smoke. Crew began an exterior attack and when possible transitioned to an interior attack to control the fire.
Firefighters were notified someone could be in the house and began a search for the occupants. According to the report, the men were found in a bedroom area.
Paris Fire Chief Michael Williams said the cause of a fire was a stove that was being used for cooking.
The house is owned by Harrison Dotson of Curtis Street. Property loss was $7,000 and content loss was $1,000.
