Paris, Tenn.–Tennessee River Fine Art League President Christi Wilkins has announced that the organization has been disbanded.
The League has spearheaded arts activities in Henry County for over a decade. Its home base has been the Lee Academy for the Arts in Paris.
Wilkins said in a Facebook posting that the decision was made ‘with great regret’ and that the organization was officially disbanded as of Monday, December 2.
Wikins said, “This decision was made due to lack of members with no future prospects, and due to loss of venue and exposure. Individuals that would like to continue painting in the art lab, to my knowledge are still able, but please note must still pay five dollar usage fee.”
Wilkins said their account will be settled out by leaving funds to Gene Snowden as proprietor, and Ann Stapp to use a scholarship funds to students for painting classes.
Over the years, League members have several had opportunities to show and sell their art during the year including the Arts Round the Square in downtown Paris in September; the Art Walk in the summer; Artist Showcase in April; sketch crawls; the Henry County Fair and the Christmas Bazaar at Lee School.
