City Of Paris Recognized As Healthier Workplace

Nashville, Tenn.– The Governor’s Foundation for Health and Wellness has announced the City of Paris has been named a Healthier Tennessee Workplace for its commitment to encouraging and enabling employees to live a healthy lifestyle both at work and at home.
“The City of Paris has created a culture of wellness that encourages and enables employees to be healthier, more productive, and more satisfied with their jobs and that’s good for Tennessee,” Richard Johnson, president and chief executive officer of the Governor’s Foundation said.
To become a Healthier Tennessee Workplace, the City of Paris certified that they have a wellness program in place that does the following:
Ø Encourages and enables physical activity in the workplace
Ø Offers healthy eating options at work
Ø Provides a tobacco-free environment and help with tobacco cessation
Ø Encourages and enables employees to monitor their own health through regular health risk assessments, screenings or check-ups
Ø Rewards and recognizes employees for participating in health and wellness activities and achieving health improvements
“We have worked very hard at the City of Paris over the past couple of years to encourage our employees to make healthier choices, whether it be eating healthier, getting more exercise, or making sure to see their physician annually, said Kim Foster, Paris City Manager.” “We have also instituted a wellness incentive where employees can be rewarded for reaching quarterly goals. In general, we’ve tried to encourage lifestyle changes that will result in healthier employees. To be recognized by the Governor’s Foundation for Health and Wellness as a Healthier Tennessee Workplace is quite an honor and validates all we are doing to create a healthier work environment.”
The designation is granted for one full year with an opportunity to renew on an annual basis.
