Jackson, Tenn.–Henry County High School Patriots Head Football Coach James Counce was awarded Male Coach of the Year for District 7 at the Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association regional meeting in Jackson Wednesday morning.
Counce received the A.F. Bridges Award at the ceremony, which was held at the University School of Jackson. District 7 includes Henry, Benton, Carroll, Chester, Decatur, Fayette, Hardeman, Hardin and Henderson.
After the presentation, Counce gave credit to the assistant coaches and the players.
Henry County Athletic Director Mike Poteete said the award is given for all sports, not just football. Poteete noted, “Coach Counce is always humble whenever he receives an award. This is a tribute to him and how he conducts himself.”
