Union City, Tenn.–The third annual Canstruction Competition is Friday, Nov. 1, at Discovery Park of America.
Teams from 10 local schools are competing, and the competition is even bigger this year, according to Discovery Park officials. Students have been taking notes, drawing up plans and have practiced building their structures since the beginning of the school year.
Thanks to Allen Searcy Builder Contractor and Westan Insurance for their sponsorship of this STEAM-focused competition. Each team has three hours to build their structures before the judging begins. Awards given are Best Overall, Most Creative, Juror’s Choice, Best Meal, Structural Ingenuity and Best Use of Labels.
The structures will be scattered throughout Discovery Center and will be on display Nov. 2-30. Thanks to our sponsors, over $5,000 worth of canned food will then be donated to Chimes for Charity, Helping Hands and We Care Ministries.
