Lunch & Learn Crowd Hears Of Infamous Henry County Murders

Paris, Tenn.–The Paris Henry County Heritage Center was the place to be over the noon hour Friday for the Halloween edition of its Lunch and Learn series–learning about infamous murders in Henry County history.
Guest speaker Gary Wallis spoke about several local cases, including the case of the State versus Elizabeth Robinson, who was indicted for the murder of her husband, whom she killed with an axe to the head.
She was acquitted but on the same day, William Hurt went on trial for murder and was convicted and sentenced to six years in the state penitentiary.
The “Most Terrible Crime in the history of the State”, according to Wallis, was committed by Shim Forrest in December of 1882. He confessed to giving his mother and grandfather a “few licks” with an axe.
