Hank's Grandson Sam Williams Makes Grand Ole' Opry Debut

Nashville, Tenn.–Sam Williams, the 22-year-old son of Hank Williams Jr., and grandson of Hank Williams Sr., has officially entered the family business. Sam, of Paris, made his Grand Ole’ Opry debut Wednesday night and finished his set to a standing ovation.
Before he took to the stage Wednesday night, Williams placed his grandfather’s hat on his head for the first time, a moment that he shared on Instagram.
Like his older brother Hank III and his sisters, Hilary and Holly Williams, Sam is a musician and singer. The kids follow in the famous footsteps of their father, Hank Williams Jr, and their grandfather, Hank Williams.
Born in Nashville and raised in Paris, Williams reportedly cared more about sports than he did following in his father’s footsteps growing up. Now 22, he’s found himself using poetry and songwriting as therapy to get out the things he needs to say, important to him that it’s straight from the heart, according to the Grand Ole’ Opry website.
In 2016, he released his debut single “Darkwater” following up with “The Lost Grandchild’s Plea” in 2018, an ode to his grandparents he never knew, Hank and Audrey Williams.
