One Airlifted Following Two-Vehicle Crash In Obion County

Union City, Tenn.—One person was airlifted to the hospital in Cape Girardeau and another person was transported to Baptist Memorial with minor injuries following a two-vehicle accident on U.S.  51 in Obion County Tuesday afternoon.
Charles Parnell, age 61, of Tiptonville, was airlifted following the accident with serious injuries. Ronterries Anderson, age 22, was transported by Obion County EMS to Baptist Memorial with minor injuries.
Both were traveling northbound on U.S. 51 around 5:05 p.m., and Anderson collided into the rear of Parnell. Both vehicles traveled into the median, with Parnell’s vehicle overturned, coming to final rest in the median upside down. The crash occurred right before the construction area on U.S. 51.
According to Sgt. Chris Richardson of the Memphis district of the THP, the investigation is still underway to find the cause of the collision. Charges are pending.
