Union City, Tenn.—The Obion County Fair’s Junior Livestock Auction grand total Tuesday night was $142,586, of which local buyers and supporters contributed $121,000.
Obion County Extension Service Director Tim Smith said, “We had a strong sale, a real strong showing, but we always have good ones. We have one of the best sales anywhere in Tennessee.”
Winners were:
Grand Champion Hog, Ella Decker of Obion County Central, $1,193, sold to Simmons Bank/Reelfoot Animal Hospital.
Reserve Champion Hog Eli Baldwin of Troy, $727, sold to Republic Services.
Grand Champion Steer Sophia McMinn of South Fulton, $5,185, sold to Cole and Short and Republic Services.
Reserve Champion Steer, Walker Johnson of Troy, $4,811, sold to Cole and Short/Republic/Ervin Feed and Grain.
Grand Champion Lamb, Logan Crabtree of South Fulton, $1,819.72, sold to Obion Co-Op/AgSafe/Andersons/Tyson/CommBank/IncoAg.
Reserve Champion Lamb, Conner Arnold of South Fulton, $1,187 told to Sellers Seed.
Smith said each champion received $500 and each reserve champion received $400 from the Wilkinson family in memory of Fred Wilkinson.
Smith noted that the Junior Livestock Auction is older than the Obion County Fair itself and this is its 65th show and sale.
Also at the Obion County Fair Tuesday night, Ken Miller of Union won the $1,000 nightly drawing and Sara Walker of Union City won the Pick Tennessee basket.
