Bethel Women's Team Gives Helping Hand At Carroll CountyFair

Huntingdon, Tenn. – Members of the Bethel women’s basketball team worked the Carroll County Fair recently in conjunction of the NAIA Champions of Character Initiative. They were involved in food prep, waiting tables, serving food, and clean-up. The team aided the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce led by Brad and Marty Hurley.
As a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), Bethel University participates in the Association’s Champions of Character program each year and has been recognized as a Five-Star Member. Likewise, the Southern States Athletic Conference has been recognized as Five- Star Conference.
The program is built upon five core values, which are: Respect, Responsibility, Integrity, Servant Leadership, and Sportsmanship. The women’s basketball team also participated with the Women’s Basketball Coaching Association by joining in the WBCA day of service movement.
Coach Chris Nelson commented, “This was a chance for our girls to get together and give back a little to the community and the Chamber. The Chamber has been very good to our school and continues to be involved in all of Bethel Athletics. Our program has a special relationship with them. We are thankful for our relationship and looking forward to the Chamber of Commerce Classic.”
