Fort Donelson To Host Viewing Event

Dover, Tenn.–As the countdown to 1:26 p.m., Monday, August 21, continues, Fort Donelson National Battlefield staff have received many inquiries as to how solar eclipse glasses or viewing cards will be distributed tomorrow.
A small inventory of National Park Service viewing cards remain. Distribution of this item will continue at 8 a.m. tomorrow for visitors of the Stewart County/National Park Service visitor site, located at 117 Visitor Center Drive, Dover, while supplies last.
For those on-site to attend the Ranger programs and to view the eclipse from the Fort area, safety glasses and viewing cards will be distributed by park staff shortly before the start of the solar-event.
These will be distributed while supplies last.
For those that already have certified safety viewing items, park officials encourage that they are brought for your use, allowing for more in attendance to safely view this special solar eclipse.

A park volunteer will have a telescope set up with the required safety filter, allowing for visitors to safely view the eclipse close-up.
