Mayfield, Ky.–A Mayfield man was arrested after a vehicle he was driving while pulling a car dolly trailer hit the wheel of a semi and resulted in a rollover collision. The driver and two passengers were injured in the crash and transported to hospitals.
Graves County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Interstate 69 near Exit 24 Thursday night. Upon arrival it was discovered that 35-year-old William Boykin, of Mayfield, was operating a small SUV with two passengers while pulling a car dolly trailer.
According to the press release, Boykin was traveling north on I-69 in the left lane next to a semi tractor and trailer which was traveling north in the right lane. The trailer Boykin was pulling started to fishtail and collided into the wheel of the semi. Boykin continued past the semi. The trailer Boykin was pulling jackknifed resulting in the vehicle losing control and rolling over multiple times crossing the right lane and the exit ramp.
Boykin and the other two passengers all sustained non-life threatening injuries from the collision. Boykin and one passenger were transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment.
The other passenger was transported to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment.
After an investigation by Deputy Brendan Weldon, William Boykin was placed under arrest and lodged in The Graves County Jail for various criminal charges. The Graves County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by, The Kentucky State Police, Mayfield/Graves County EMS and the Mayfield Fire Department.
Boykin was charged with two counts of wanton endangerment 1st degree and DUI 1st offense with an aggravating circumstance.
