One Killed, One Seriously Injured In Calloway County Wreck

Murray, Ky. – An elderly New Concord woman was killed and the other driver was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accident Friday in Calloway County.
Kentucky State Police Post received a call of a two vehicle collision in Calloway County.  The original call was made to the Calloway County Sherriff’s Office at approximately 8:17 AM on Friday August 23, KSP was later requested to perform a collision analysis and reconstruction.
Preliminary investigation shows Shannon L. Jarvis, 39 of New Concord, KY was traveling south on KY 121S near the 6.6 mile marker operating a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer.  Preliminary investigation shows that, for an unknown reason Jarvis crossed into the northbound lane and into the path of the victim’s vehicle, causing a head on collision. Jarvis was transported by Murray-Calloway County EMS and later airlifted to Vanderbilt hospital.  The victim was north on KY 121, operating a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The victim appeared to attempt evasive action and move to shoulder, to avoid being struck. The victim was identified as Mary J. Cole, 80 of New Concord and pronounced deceased on scene by the Calloway County Coroner.
KSP Reconstructionist  Master Trooper Mike Ray and Reconstructionist Sgt. Eric Fields are continuing the investigation.  KSP was assisted on the scene by Murray-Calloway EMS, Calloway County Coroner, Calloway County Sheriff’s Office and Calloway County Fire and Rescue.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kentucky State Police Post 1 at 270-856-3721 or anonymously at 1-800-222-5555.  Citizens may also report tips anonymously through the KSP app.
