Huge Crowd For Annual Fair Pet Show

By Shannon McFarlin News Director

Paris, Tenn.—A huge crowd was at the Henry County Fairgrounds Wednesday night for the annual Pet Show, which drew some 50 entries. Pets of all types, sizes and temperaments competed in a variety of categories—dogs, a steer, a piglet, guinea pig, goat, and even a cat. This year’s show was held at the outdoor pavilion on the fairgrounds.

Mike Wilson was again Emcee of the event and kept the evening moving. Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew and his K9 Si gave a short demonstration during the ‘working dog’ segment of the program.

Best of Show winners were: Moose Aiosa (adult) and Ruby Hellman (child).

The Food Truck Rodeo also brought out crowds, with several area food trucks serving up menus with a variety of food choices. One food truck even served alligator tacos.

The Farm Family of the Day honored Wednesday was the Veronica Steer Family with Sunbow Jerseys, who set up a display near the pet show.

The For Heaven’s Sake gospel group entertained in the Commercial Building, where exhibits opened. The Country Store also opened up Wednesday, serving good baked goods, cornbread and more.
