Driver, Passenger Arrested On Alcohol, Firearms Charges

 
Union City, Tenn.—A driver and passenger were arrested after a traffic stop Tuesday in Union City, arrested on several charges involving possession of firearms while intoxicated.
Driver Austin Carver, age 20, of Hwy. 45, Union City, was charged with DUI, underage possession/consumption of alcohol and possession of a firearm while intoxicated. According to the report, the result of the breathalyzer test performed on Carver was .072.
Passenger Chandler Roberts, age 21, of Crystal Rd., Union City, was charged with public intoxication and possession of a firearm while intoxicated.
Union City Police conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of Nash St. after observing a brake light out. According to the report, a case of beer was sitting on the floorboard of the car and Carver showed bloodshot eyes and there was a smell of alcohol. Carver admitted to drinking four or five beers earlier, the report said.
After performing poorly on the field sobriety tests, Carver was placed in custody. During a search of the vehicle, a .22 caliber revolver pistol was located in the driver’s side door compartment.
Chandler also was determined to be intoxicated and a Glock 9MM handgun was found underneath the passenger seat where he was sitting and he was placed in custody.
