Camden, Tenn.—A total of 23 charges against a Big Sandy man were bound over to the Benton County Grand Jury involving the vehicular homicide death of a four-year-old boy in April.
James Greer, 52, was arrested after the accident in which his four-year-old boy Hunter was killed and four other people were injured including two other children.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol at the time of the accident, Greer was driving a SUV east on Shiloh Church Road when he ran a stop sign and struck a van driven by a Camden man.
A preliminary hearing was held in the case Friday and all charges were bound over to the grand jury, which meets in October. Handling the case for the state was Assistant District Attorney Rebecca Griffey.
The hearing lasted three hours and included testimony of three state witnesses: Trooper Brent Russom, THP Sgt. Charles Forsythe and Trooper Moore with the THP Critical Incident Response Team, which investigated the accident.
The 23 charges are: one count aggravated vehicular homicide; three counts violation of Haley’s Law involving the three children in Greer’s vehicle; three counts aggravated vehicular assault; six counts reckless endangerment, one count DUI 2nd offense; one count driving on revoked license; one count violation implied consent law; one count violation of open container law; one count reckless driving; one count failure to yield for stop sign; one count violation of seatbelt law; one count violation regarding child restraint device; one count failure to maintain insurance; and one count violation of due care law.
