Murray, Ky.—A former Murray State cheerleader pleaded not guilty to first-degree rape when he appeared in Calloway Co. Circuit Court Tuesday.
Dennis Seay, age 25, of Murray, was arraigned on the charge, which is a Class B felony that carries punishment from 10-20 years in prison if found guilty.
According to the court docket, it was filed as a first-degree felony because the victim was “incapable of consent/physically helpless”.
Murray State campus police said the alleged crime did not occur on campus.
Seay is a graduate student at the university and is currently free on bond.
