Moor's Resort & Marina Takes Direct Hit From Sunday's Storm

Gilbertsville, Ky.—For Marshall County, Kentucky, it was a repeat of Friday night’s storm but at a different location.
On Sunday night, Moor’s Resort & Marina in Gilbertsville took a direct hit with major damage to docks and boats. At 5:15 p.m. Sunday, what officials are calling either a tornado or high winds caused significant damage to the resort.
The owners at Moor’s said their harbor took a “brutal hit”, but luckily the damage was contained to A and B dock, with no other damage across the resort. However, the damage to those two docks was substantial, with boats piled on top of each other and dock framework twisted and destroyed.
Moor’s owners said all lodging, campground and the bar and grill are still open. The marina store is fine, but will be closed today (Monday, June 24).
But most importantly, they said, “Everyone is accounted for and safe”.
Marshall County EMA officials said the response was ‘outstanding’, with multiple local agencies and other counties sending resources to assist.
Kentucky Dam Village Resort and Marina also suffered major damage when strong winds hit the area Friday night, causing a pier to blow away. Kentucky Dam Village, Campground, Marina and Golf Course will remain closed until further notice while repairs are underway.
