Murray, Ky.–One person was struck by lightning Sunday night outside of White College on the Murray State University campus.
The incident occurred during a severe thunderstorm that moved through Murray. Shawn Touney, Murray State Director of Communications, confirmed to the Murray State News that the victim is being treated at Murray-Calloway County Hospital. The victim reportedly is not a student.
Payne Street between Regents Drive and N. 13th Street in front of White College was blocked off for a time after the incident.
Touney was at the scene of the accident and unavailable for comment on the victim’s condition.
