Weakley County, Tenn.–A Paris man who was missing since Saturday was found deceased in a deep ditch in Weakley County today. He had wrecked his motorcycle and was discovered by a Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopter.
David Shipton, Jr., age 50, of 5192 Hwy. 190 of Paris, was found near the 11 mile marker on State Highway 89 between Dresden and Sharon.
Weakley County Sheriff’s Captain Randall McGowan said the wreck was discovered shortly after noon today (Thursday, June 20) when the pilot in the THP helicopter thought he observed a motorcycle in a deep ditch.
The Weakley County Sheriff’s Office had been notified that Shipley was missing on Tuesday and had asked for the THP helicopter’s assistance after cell phone records showed the last time the victim’s cell phone hit a phone tower was somewhere southwest of Dresden.
McGowan said it is believed the accident happened sometime in the early morning of Saturday, June 15, and is being investigated by the THP.
