Buchanan, Tenn.—With demolition of the Paris Landing Inn virtually complete, state officials are now announcing that the new Inn will be larger than planned. They also have pushed back the date for completion of the new Inn to spring of 2021.
In 2017, when officials announced the Inn at Paris Landing State Park would be demolished, they said it would be replaced with a more modern, but smaller Inn.
Officials now are saying that 25 more rooms have been added to the design, which will bring the new Paris Landing Inn to around 90 rooms. The original Paris Landing Inn had 130 rooms, but occupancy was low, which state officials contended was due to it being an outmoded facility.
David Roberson, Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, told WENK/WTPR Thursday that with the addition of 25 new rooms now added, that will add $8,470,000 to the project, which in turn will increase the total cost from $26,075,000 to $34,545,000.
The building has been demolished, but work still continues at the site, hauling off demolition debris and clearing the area. Roberson said all the demolition work should be complete by June 30 “and we expect to release the contractor to begin work immediately on the new facility.”
Roberson also said, “Because the design for the added rooms is not complete yet, we can’t say precisely how long it will take to complete work, but we believe it will be finished in spring 2021.”
The original date for complete of the new Paris Landing Inn was set for the summer of 2020.
Henry County and state officials have been discussing the need for a bigger Inn to accommodate all of the visitors who stay in the county, especially during the spring, summer and fall when there is increased tourism and during the fishing seasons when there are tournaments ongoing at Paris Landing State Park and Kentucky Lake.
